Full Time Naturalist

Position Summary

Effie Yeaw Nature Center naturalists instill an interest in the environment and natural world, by helping the public understand the cultural, natural and scientific significance of the Lower American River. They do this by highlighting historical, ecological or scientific features of outdoor surroundings through nature walks, educational programs, and kids’ camps. Our associate naturalists (AN) lead weekday tours of the nature center, present natural and cultural history programs, and serve as the lead organizational representative when scheduled as the “Naturalist on Duty” in the Visitor Center. This is a full-time position, averaging 32-40 hours a week, including weekends. One weekend day per week is required.

Part-time/Summer/Seasonal Educator

This is a part-time, seasonal and temporary position, which may include weekend responsibilities.

Associate Naturalist

Weekend Receptionist

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Office Manager this position works any weekend shift and serves as the Weekend lead for the front desk/customer service component of the Nature Center. They will be responsible for answering questions from the public and telephone callers or referring those questions to the appropriate staff person or voice mail and operating the cash register and taking orders in the small gift shop; giving trail directions; selling County Park passes, handling emergencies; etc. This position is also responsible for the safe and efficient opening and closing of the facility.
