Nature in Your Classroom

When you can't bring your class to us, let us bring the Nature Center to you! Science comes alive in your classroom with hands-on, interactive nature-focused programs. Students explore skulls, furs, or other biofacts, and meet some of our resident animals. These programs are offered year-round.

  • Programs are appropriate for the grade levels listed. (None of our programs are appropriate for Preschool or Transitional Kindergarten classes.)
  • Programs are limited to one class per program, or up to a maximum of 35 students.

Critters of the American River

GRADES K-2

Discover American River life in your classroom! Students compare and contrast mammals, birds and reptiles, examine structure and function of skulls and fur, and meet live animals. 

  • 60 minutes
  • $200 for up to 35 students

Sensational Senses

GRADES K-1

Children discover how humans and animals process information from their environments through imaginative and interactive activities, including specimens and live animals.

  • 60 minutes
  • $200 for up to 35 students

Scales and Tails

GRADES 1-5

Students build an understanding of reptiles and amphibians, and the important role they play in their habitats. Explore reptile and amphibian specimens, meet a variety of local cold-blooded creatures, and learn how you can protect these animals.

Amazing Adaptations

GRADES 3-5

Explore what it takes for animals to survive in their habitats. Students discover unique animal structures, abilities, and behaviors through interactive discussion and up-close observation of live native animals.

  • 60 minutes
  • $200 for up to 35 students

Raptors of the River

GRADES 3-8

Invite your students to become experts on local birds of prey by exploring specimens and live raptors. Students will examine unique adaptations, discuss environmental roles, and find out how to protect these winged hunters.

  • 60 minutes

Animal Ambassadors

Grades 7-12

Students examine a variety of animal biofacts to learn their physical structures and adaptations, explore their behavior and physiology, and how their interact with their habitat. Learn what it takes to care for non-releasable wild animals by meeting EYNC animal ambassadors, discovering their stories, and ways we can keep wildlife wild!
