Maidu Culture Kids Field Day - Full

Bring your group out to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center for a hands-on exploration of the traditional life of the Valley Nisenan people and to impart a greater understanding and appreciation for the native people’s culture and relationship to the earth. Experience and use replica tule houses, acorn granary and artifact grinding rock in the Effie Yeaw Nature Center’s replica Nisenan Maidu Village. Students spend the day outdoors, learning native skills, exploring the natural world, learning uses of native plants for food, tools and medicine, listening to traditional native stories and watching a demonstration of acorn preparation.
