Access for Wheelchair and Stroller Use

The Effie Yeaw Nature Center is fully accessible for wheelchair and stroller use. An unpaved emergency service road provides a beautiful access route to portions of the Nature Area. If you or a member of your party uses a wheelchair, please contact us prior to your visit for additional information about accessible areas in the Nature Area.
AT THE CENTER

The Nature Center is part of a 77-acre nature preserve with riparian and oak woodlands, shrub lands, meadows, and aquatic habitats.


We have three self-guided trails that are equipped with interpretive signage along the way pointing out interesting trail features. The experience can be even more interesting by using our descriptive trail map.

In addition to the nature preserve, much loved by walkers, artists and photographers, other features of the Nature Center include:

Watchable Wildlife

The Nature Area is included as a "Watchable Wildlife" site in the California state guide because of its reliable wildlife viewing opportunities. There is always something interesting to see so bring your binoculars and view the wildlife up close!


Many varieties of animal species live in or use the nature preserve and the Ancil Hoffman Park. See deer, squirrels, coyotes, wild turkeys, rabbits, snakes, hawks, owls, woodpeckers, songbirds and waterfowl on the river and ponds, as well as tracks or signs of many other animals.

Picnics

Picnicking is allowed at the tables near the building, but not out in the preserve.
NO DOGS, NO HORSES,  NO BICYCLES, and NO SMOKING

Because we are a protected nature study preserve, there are NO DOGS, NO HORSES,  NO BICYCLES, and NO SMOKING allowed on Nature Area trails.
